Compassionate pelvic floor therapy, centered on you

The Hands-On Physio was built on a simple belief: every woman deserves to understand her body, feel heard, and receive care with compassion. That means private appointments, time to ask questions, and a therapist who treats you as a whole person — not a diagnosis.

The Hands-On Physio provides one-on-one pelvic floor and orthopedic physical therapy for women in every stage of life, with locations in Columbia, Maryland and Evans, Georgia.

Whole-body pelvic floor care, built around you. This isn't a system where you get rushed from room to room. It's care shaped around the person in front of us — time to listen, time to explain, and time to treat the whole body, not just the symptom that brought you in. Every session is designed so you leave feeling cared for, understood, and confident about what comes next, whatever life looks like right now.

Dr. Abbie Laycock, PT, DPT, MTC

Founder & CEO

Hi, I’m Dr. Abbie. I started The Hands-On Physio because I believe physical therapy should feel like a partnership, not a rushed appointment on someone else’s clock.

I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2015 and began my career in Charlotte, NC, where I also met my husband. As a military family, we’ve lived and worked in Washington, Maryland, Kansas, and Georgia. Each move gave me the chance to work in a different clinic, learn from different mentors, and see physical therapy practiced in many different ways. Those experiences shaped how I practice today: hands-on, one-on-one, and built around the person in front of me instead of a template.

I have advanced training in manual therapy, dry needling, and pelvic floor rehabilitation. I’ve also dealt with my own orthopedic issues, so I know what it’s like to be the patient who wants answers, an understanding of what’s going on, and a treatment plan that fits into real life. I look beyond where you hurt to understand what’s contributing to it and help you feel better, move better, and feel more confident in your body. My goal is to give you the tools and understanding to continue making progress beyond the clinic.

Now back in Maryland, I’m excited to put down roots and serve the Columbia community.

Dr. Ellicia Jacobs, PT, DPT, CLT

Pelvic Health Specialist — Evans, GA

Dr. Ellicia brings over a decade of specialized experience in pelvic health physical therapy. A graduate of Marymount University's Doctorate in Physical Therapy program, she's built a career around an area of care that doesn't get talked about nearly enough — training extensively in both Western and holistic approaches to treat it well.

She helps women navigate chronic pelvic pain, complex medical conditions, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and other pelvic health concerns, using hands-on techniques like Abdominopelvic Release, Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral Therapy, and Myofascial Release alongside movement and self-care strategies. Her goal is always the same: find the root cause, not just the symptom, and support sustainable healing in a space where it's safe to ask the hard questions.

Dr. Ellicia is currently welcoming new patients at our Evans, Georgia, location.
